Briary cottage’s two bed features it’s own spired tower to its superb parlour overlooking the Solent and the abundance of contemporary furniture and fittings throughout, this stunning holiday property in Cowes on the Isle of Wight has a true wow factor. The Solent is literally at the end of the garden at this spectacular restoration of a former coach house on the water’s edge near Cowes.
You’ll feel as if you’re checking into your own small castle as you walk through the property’s gate to see the tower and grounds. On the ground floor, the exquisite oak and tiled floors, particularly those in the heavenly open-plan lounge/diner that takes pride of place, are under-heated. Large floor-to-ceiling windows allow you to take full use of the spectacular sea views from the two sofas, however a TV and blu-ray player keep you entertained. There’s a wood stove to keep you warm on chilly nights, as well as a dining table for four people.
A contemporary kitchen with a range stove and dishwasher is just around the corner, as is a separate utility room with a microwave, washing machine, and tumble dryer. The ground-floor bedroom features a super-king-size zip-and-link bed (which may be put up as a twin on request at the time of booking), patio doors to the garden, and an en-suite bathroom with a shower over the bath and WC. On this floor, there is a separate shower room with a WC.
A door from the living room leads to an enclosed stairway that leads to a charming double bedroom in the property’s octagonal tower, which has excellent sea views. Due to the galleried stairwell and open staircase, the upper bedroom is not ideal for young children.
Outside, there is a raised terrace with garden furniture on the property’s side, which is ideal for al fresco eating while taking in the breathtaking views. A second terrace at the front provides views of the sea, as well as a shared lawn for visitors to lounge on and a private road that leads directly down to the beach. Due to the proximity of the esplanade and the huge parlour windows, no ball games are permitted in the yard. Outside Briary Cottage, there is no parking restriction.
Relax and take in the picturesque sea vistas of sailing boats, cruise liners, and smaller craft. The hub of Cowes, a trendy sailing centre world-renowned for its sailing week in August, is within walking distance. There are a variety of boutique shops and superb eateries in the town. Gurnard, a little beach village with a pub and a children’s play area, is also a delightful stroll along the sea front. Regardless of where you go, you’ll be eager to get back to your luxurious vacation home!
