Polzeath is a popular beach village with a variety of stores selling everything from surfboards to clothing, as well as vibrant bars and cosy cafes. The beach is big and sandy, with lifeguards on duty throughout the summer months, and is great for surfing. Another fantastic feature is the beach parking – yes, right on the beach! This beach is made out of sand and shingle, and it is located at the mouth of a river, surrounded by spectacular cliffs. On the shore, there is a wildlife reserve as well as some beautiful rock pools. Many varieties of coastal birds, including puffins, can be seen here, and dolphins are occasionally seen.
Polzeath is located in the lee of Pentire Point, just north of the Camel Estuary. As the crow flies, the beach is only about 2 miles from Padstow, but crossing the estuary requires a major detour, and Port Isaac is actually a shorter journey.
There are several shops and pubs near by to taste the fresh seafood.
