Due to its warm microclimate and sheltered location, Forge Cottage is located in the picturesque village of Wootton Courtenay, one of Exmoor‘s most attractive spots. The cottage, which was renovated from a barn near the Old Forge, today provides comfortable and roomy holiday accommodation for two or three people in one room.
There is an open-plan living room downstairs with a large lounge with a wood-effect electric stove, as well as a dining and kitchen area.
Just to the side of the cottage is a vehicle port where you can store your car under cover. A tiny patio with a garden bench is located outside the property and is south facing and sunny.
The local supermarket is only a short walk away, and there are various beautiful walks over moors and through woodlands right on the doorstep, including the Macmillan Way, which passes right by.
Pets are permitted.
Minehead, about 4 miles away, is the closest town. The settlement is elegantly positioned in a sheltered position at the foot of Dunkery Hill, the highest point on Exmoor at 519 metres above sea level, with the beacon on top. The beacon provides a 360-degree view of the beach as well as the surrounding countryside.
Exmoor National Park is a rural idyll of 267 square miles, with undulating hills, open heather moorland, and sweeping valleys cloaked in ancient oak trees.
Whether you choose a leisurely weekend touring the charming villages or an active Exmoor holiday including mountain biking, horseback riding, and walking, there is plenty to keep you occupied. Exmoor is home to a diverse range of animals, including herds of wild red deer and Exmoor ponies, as well as buzzards that swoop majestically overhead.
