Product Description

A couple of miles south west of Dorchester, Washing Pool Barns are situated in the pretty village of Martinstown, just one minute walk from the local pub and five minutes walk to the village store and post office. The Hardy Monument, a memorial to Admiral Sir Thomas Masterman Hardy, is a popular viewpoint above the village and provides almost 360 degree views.

In nearby Abbotsbury there are a number of visitor attractions such as the Swannery and the award winning Subtropical Gardens.

Abbotsbury Swannery provides the unique experience of feeding swans and in May and June admiring the newborn cygnets.

To the east is the popular seaside town of Weymouth with its Georgian seafront and 17th century harbour.

The Jurassic Coast is world-famous as one of the best places to find fossils and evidence of the prehistoric past. There are plenty of fascinating finds on display at the Lyme Regis Museum. If you’d prefer to hunt for your own fossils, you can take a guided walk along the coastline.

Other must-see sights along this unique coastline include Lulworth Cove & Durdle Door.  Both of these fascinating and photogenic features have been carved out by the sea over millions of years. If you’d like to add some adrenaline to your experience of the great outdoors, coasteering is guaranteed to get the heart pumping.

Further west is the bustling market town of Bridport and the colourful, pretty town of Lyme Regis, with gentle waters for bathing.

The county town of Dorchester is less than ten minutes drive away with its large selection of shops, restaurants, cafes, museums and two cinemas.

The Cowshed is a ground floor suite with french doors on to the garden.

It has a kitchen/dining/sitting area fully equipped with double oven, hob, dishwasher, washer/dryer and pod coffee maker. The living area has a fireplace with a cosy wood burning stove and two over-size leather snuggler chairs. The bedroom area has a super-king size, handmade Vispring bed with Egyptian cotton linen and down duvet. The bed can be separated to two singles upon request. From the bedroom there is a generous bathroom with a bath and a large open walk-in shower. The village pub is just a minute away from the cottage, and a five minute drive away or two mile walk sees you at Hardy’s Monument with stunning views across beautiful Dorset countryside and out to Weymouth Bay. Nearby Iron Age Maiden Castle Hillfort offers excellent walking opportunities, and the towns of Dorchester and Weymouth are a short drive away with plenty of shops, museums, restaurants and cinemas to visit.
